Boro hit back

Play-off chasing Stevenage came from behind at the Banks's Stadium to earn a 1-1 draw which added to Walsall's relegation fears.

The Saddlers had made a flying start, going ahead in the third minute when skipper and central defender Andy Butler controlled a knockdown from Manny Smith to send a low shot just inside the far post.

Alex Nicholls had a second ruled out for handball six minutes later, but then a physically stronger Stevenage side took over and Craig Reid saw his blistering drive brilliantly saved by David Grof five minutes from half-time.

Stevanage always looked capable of a goal and they equalised after 60 minutes when a cross from Jennison Myrie-Williams was not cleared and Michael Bostwick smashed a beauty into the roof of the net from 25 yards.

Kevan Hurst failed with a good chance to head Walsall back in front and substitute Emmanuel Ledesma scuffed a shot wide with only the keeper to beat.
