FA Cup giantkillers Stevenage snatched all three points at Tamworth with a late winner.

Substitute Gary Holloway bundled the ball home after an 85th minute goalmouth scramble to break the hearts of the Lambs, who had bounced back from a Simon Wormull first half strike through a Mark Cooper equaliser and looked the more likely to snatch a winner.

Stevenage were the first to threaten after 12 minutes when Simon Travis' cross flashed dangerously across goal but no-one was at the back post to take advantage.

Neither side created any opportunities until the game sprang to life in the 32nd minute when Tamworth player-assistant manager Cooper tripped Steve Watson and from a well-rehearsed free-kick Wormull gave the visitors the lead.

Goalkeeper James Lindley appeared to have the low shot covered, but it slipped under his body and inside the post.

Tamworth were rattled and Rocky Baptiste's corner was poorly defended by Marcus Ebdon at the near post and Jason Blunt had to head off the line at the back stick.

Tamworth raised the tempo and after a spot of pinball on the edge of the area Andy Watson struck the inside of the post with a smart half-volley on 40 minutes. Ebdon followed up, but his shot flashed across goal and beyond the far post.

Tamworth started the second half brightly and the impressive Watson found space behind the Boro defence. His cross found Blunt six yards out, but Lee Flynn flung himself to block a certain goal.

The equaliser did come in the 57th minute when Marc McGregor capitalised on a slip by the visitors and he raced to the byline and pulled the ball back for Watson. His shot was blocked, but Cooper followed up to slot home.

Watson then released Scott Rickards and the England semi-professional only had the keeper to beat, but he couldn't slip the ball past Lionel Perez.

Watson was teasing the visitors and he fired in a low cross that Blunt missed and Rickards far post shot was charged down.

Boro weathered the storm and snatched the points with their only effort on goal in the half.

The Lambs failed to deal with a hopeful long ball and as they struggled to clear their lines Baptiste fired off a shot that Lindley managed to save, but Baptiste pounced on the rebound and although his effort was blocked on the line by Richard Follett, Holloway was on hand to bundle the ball home.
