Stevenage kept up their push for a play-off place with a comfortable and unspectacular win over relegation-threatened Scarborough.

Indeed such was the ease of the victory that two goals inside the first 22 minutes proved enough to seal the three points for the home side.

Stevenage began in dominant form and their first effort came with just three minutes on the clock when Jason Goodliffe evaded his marker and forced a fine save from Ian Dunbavin with a flicked header.

Scarborough were barely in the contest and the spell of good football was rewarded on ten minutes by the opener for Stevenage. Good interplay between George Boyd and Dino Maamria ended with a pass to Adam Miller and the Stevenage midfielder completed the move with a 25-yard drive into the bottom left-hand corner.

Stevenage could have added a second when Ollie Berquez lobbed just over but they didn't have long to wait as the decisive second came on 22 minutes.

Boyd was again central to the move and, after feeding the ball out to Dannie Bulman on the right, he latched on to the pinpoint cross to drive the ball high into the top left-hand corner giving Dunbavin no chance. Stevenage could have added a third when Maamria guided a free header at the Scarborough keeper.

As the half drew to a close, Scarborough had to finally push forward and they had two chances to net. Jason Blunt squandered the first effort when he fired at keeper Alan Julian from close range and just two minutes later Chris Hughes drove an effort wide of the post when he should have hit the target.

The second half proved a tame affair as Scarborough failed to build on their good finish to the first period. Two set-piece efforts by Neil Redfearn were all they had to show for the second 45 minutes while Stevenage also barely failed to master an attack.

The closest they came to adding to the scoreline was a Jon Nurse effort but it was a match which was already cut and dried.
