Stevenage increased their winning streak to three games as they move closer to the play off with a clinical victory over a poor Tamworth.

Tamworth were seemingly content to play for a point and an early Boro foray saw a superb pass from Dannie Bulman to Anthony Elding result in a stinging shot which was well kept out by Lambs keeper Ryan Price.

As Boro kept the pressure on, the lively Joe Flack flicked the ball over the ponderous Matt Redmile and bore down on goal. Redmile completely missed his clearance but once again keeper Price was there to save the day.

It took Tamworth 34 minutes to muster their first shot on target, a well-placed free-kick by Lee Colkin lacked the pace to beat keeper Andy Woodman and was easily caught.

Boro were having the better of a poor game but couldn't produce any meaningful efforts on goal and just before the break a fine ran by Colkin and a pinpoint shot was pushed away by Woodman.

The second half started in a more encouraging fashion with Boro's Justin Gregory skimming across a fine right-foot cross which fell just short of the on rushing Boro strikers.

A largely uninspiring game burst into life in the 67th minute, a fine jinking run by Flack was stopped rather crudely by Redmile on the edge of his box, the resulting Boro free-kick was blasted goalward by Gregory and only half blocked.

The rebound squeezed through to Jon Brady who made no mistake in banging the ball into the right-hand corner.

As Tamworth fought back that man Brady was on hand once again to make a superb saving tackle when Aaron Brown pounced on a loose ball in the six-yard box.

Boro moved further ahead when substitute Brady crossed deep for Barry Laker to head back across goal. Captain Jason Goodliffe was there to head home at the post.

All in all it was not the prettiest of games but one that needed winning if Stevenage are to be real contenders this season.
