Stevenage 1 Scarborough 0

Stevenage earnt 3 vital points to keep their play-off aspirations alive but they did it the hard way in what was a dour encounter. With few chances created in the opening exchanges it took 20 minutes for the home side to have their first real effort on goal although Stevenage had the ball in the Scarborough net after an Elding strike was pushed onto the bar by keeper Lee Walker, the following goal was disallowed for off-side.

Simon Weatherstone aimed close with a flick header while Elding himself saw another shot charged down as Stevenage were unable to make the break-through in the first half.

Scarborough's sole effort on goal came 4 minutes before the break when Robert Gill's long range effort was tipped over by home keeper Alan Julian.

The second half began more brightly and within 3 minutes Stevenage were ahead thanks to a pin-point header from Darryn Stamp following a curling cross-in by Elding.

Scarborough appeared unable to find the equaliser with only Nicholsons' point blank shot saved by Julian their only effort but as the game drifted into added time Scarborough twice fired over the bar and had their best efforts of the match when Paul Foot rose to meet the corner only to see his header come back off the cross bar and with it go Scarborough's hopes of a point.
