Stevenage Borough produced one of the worst performances in their history at Broadhall Way as they capitulated to Canvey Island to leave boss Graham Westley's future extremely uncertain.

Stevenage took just 13 minutes to lose the game as dismal defending saw them fall two goals behind.

Ollie Berquez put the visitors ahead after just five minutes when he pounced on a mix-up between Michael Brough and Jason Goodliffe before drilling his shot home.

Soon afterwards Stevenage conceded a free-kick on the edge of the area and Lee Boylan blasted his effort straight in to the net past the wall.

Stevenage did strike back after 16 minutes when Ritchie Hanlon forced the ball in after Canvey keeper Danny Potter had fumbled a George Boyd free-kick.

But Stevenage were unable to mount a rally and had just two further efforts on goal in the remainder of the half.

Stevenage lacked confidence after the restart and hopes of a fightback were dashed on the hour when Neil Gregory fired in a penalty following Robert Quinn's foul on Junior McDougald.

Canvey created all the chances after the interval with McDougald and John Kennedy going close before Neil Midgley ghosted in at the far post with 12 minutes left to complete the rout and seal the home side's humiliation.
