Scarborough threw away a three-goal lead and three points as they allowed Stevenage to battle back in superb style.

In fact they could easily have lost out as the last minute break from the visitors led to substitute Joe Flack slamming a volley against the bar.

This all came after an amazing start for Nick Henry's men which saw them hit the net three times in the first nine minutes.

It took the hosts just 59 seconds to open their account, when a horrendous mistake at the back allowed Chris Senior in to score.

Three minutes later the advantage was doubled as Robert Gill's persistence in the penalty area allowed Kevin Nicholson to tap home from two yards.

Two became three shortly after through another Senior effort. The pacey frontman beat two defenders on a chase through the centre before slotting past Andy Woodman from the edge of the box.

Boro could have added to their tally after this but a string of chances came and went.

As the scoring subsided at one end it started at the other and on 34 minutes Stevenage were given hope.

A cross from the left was nodded home by Anthony Elding - a strike which gave Stevenage the confidence to push on.

A second came just after the break when a mistake in the home midfield led to Rob Quinn chipping home.

Then with just over 20 minutes remaining Stevenage achieved the unthinkable by levelling the scores.

Elding latched on to a glorious through ball and his downward header beat Leigh Walker.

The storm continued after that but Scarborough just managed to cling to their single point.
