Goals from Jon Nurse and George Boyd won the game for Stevenage as the Fleet fell to their second successive league defeat.

After being bundled out of the FA Cup last week at Kettering, the Fleet were keen get back to winning ways but it never looked likely against Boro, even when whey were reduced to 10 men following the dismissal of Dino Maamria in the 79th minute.

With keeper Alan Julian is sparkling form and George Boyd mesmerising the Fleet defence, Boro had enough quality to beat a Gravesend & Northfleet side struggling to recapture its best form.

Stevenage got of to a perfect start when, after only four minutes, Boyd got away down the left side of the Fleet defence and crossed for Jon Nurse to rise unchallenged and plant the ball beyond Craig Holloway in the home goal.

Danny Slatter, Andy Drury and Manny Omoyinmi efforts had Julian at full stretch but , despite a succession of corners, they couldn't find a way to create a goal.

Maamria was booked after 69 minutes for an ugly response to Charlie MacDonald following a challenge on Rob Quinn, but when the dust settled Nurse strode forward purposefully before laying the ball off to Boyd, who took it in his stride to blast a rocket past Holloway for Boro's second.
