Forest Green Rovers secured only their second home win of the season with a 3-1 win over Stevenage Borough.

The visitors struck after just five minutes from a free-kick which Steve Perrin parried from Dino Maamria's flick-on, but Nathan Bunce was unmarked on the back post to stab in the rebound.

Rovers almost fell further behind when a mix-up between Denny Ingram and Gareth Stoker allowed Lee Flynn to cross the ball into the box, but Maamria's header hit the sidenetting.

Rovers equalised in the 20th minute when Jamie Moralee's flick-on fell to Martin Foster and he controlled the ball before volleying from the middle of the penalty area beneath the keeper into the right-hand corner of the net.

It got worse for the visitors when they were reduced to ten men when Jamie Cook clumsily elbowed Ingram and was promptly shown the red card.

Five minutes into the second half Rovers edged in front. Stoker's throughball found substitute Scott Rogers and his first-time cross was poked in from close range by Moralee.

Stevenage almost equalised with nine minutes remaining, but Simon Travis' flicked header from a deep cross rebounded off the upright.

Forest Green secured the points two minutes later when Moralee latched on to Damon Searle's left-wing cross and his header went into the far corner of the net, leaving Boro keeper Lionel Perez stranded.
