Battling Farnborough fell to a 3-0 defeat to Stevenage Borough in a firey affair that saw 10 yellow cards and two sendings off.

Both sides started brightly in this feisty affair Jon Nurse tested Boro keeper Craig Holloway early on, while at the other end Sacha Opinel had a free-kick saved.

The home side then had a chance to open the scoring when Ali Chaaban's run brought Stevenage keeper Andy Woodman off his line, he crossed however and Jason Goodliffe was on hand to clear Lloyd Blackman's effort off the line.

Then on the half-hour mark, the visitors took advantage of some sloppy defending to take the lead. Ritchie Hanlon's cross was fired home by Anthony Elding.

Boro's chance to level came after a good ball from Tony Taggart, however Danny Allen-Page took too long to shoot and the ball was cleared.

The home side continued to look for the equaliser but Gary Holloway couldn't quite get on the end of Robert Hughes' cross.

On the stroke of half-time Lloyd Blackman blasted the ball over the bar for Boro to go into the break trailing by one goal.

Just two minutes into the second half and the visitors doubled their lead when they won a free-kick on the edge of the area.

Jon Brady's cross was met by Elding who hit the post, and Nurse was on hand to head home the rebound.

Blackman then whipped in a cross at the other end but Holloway stabbed the ball past the post.

Matters became worse when Stevenage made it 3-0. Nurse's run ended with a good cross giving Elding a simple header home. A player brawl then followed that saw Holloway and Nurse pick up bookings.

Then just to add to Boro's woes they were reduced to 10 men when Gary Holloway was sent off after a second yellow card and minutes later, Anthony Charles was given a straight red for taking down Nurse on a goal-bound run.

However nine-man Boro continued to try and fight back, but it was too little, too late and Graham Westley's side took home the three points.
