Andy Todd was Accrington's late saviour just as it looked as though John Coleman's side were going to slip to defeat at home to Stevenage.

The runaway Conference leaders were in danger of getting beaten after Darryn Stamp's second minute header shocked them.

Stanley fought back in admirable fashion and stretched their unbeaten Conference run to 20 matches and that all came despite being reduced to ten men.

Leam Richardson was shown a red early in the second half for serious foul play, although his dismissal galvanised the home team who deservedly grabbed a share of the spoils when Todd fired home just 12 minutes remaining.

Stevenage started the better of the two sides and in the second minute deservedly took the lead when Stamp found time and space to head home.

Dino Maamria saw a shot saved in the eighth minute, before two minutes later heading over as Stevenage looked to double their advantage.

Maamria had a shot saved by Stanley keeper Rob Elliot in the 25th minute as the visitors had the lions share of the play, before Maamria had a header saved in the 28th minute.

Accrington's first chance came in the 37th minute when David Brown fired wide when in a good position.

The re-start saw Accrington start the better and Ian Craney fired wide, before in the 50th minute Phil Edwards also missed the target.

Paul Mullin went close for the home side before Richardson was given his marching orders, but Todd's late strike secured a valuable point.
