Boromad Awards

Here are the awards for players and team performances in the 2004/2005 season.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Dannie Bulman has had a good and consistent first season for Boro, after signing from Wycombe.

YOUNG PLAYER OF THE YEAR: After breaking through last season, George Boyd wins our award after a good season and has definetly made an impact

BEST GOALKEEPER: A choice out of Julian and Woodman, I think Alan Julian wins our vote after playing well in goal since he signed from Brentford. He may have been dodgy at times, but Andy Woodman did put in some good performances as well.

BEST DEFENDER: Having being reinstated as skipper and a horror injury keeping him out of most of last season, Jason Goodliffe has come back and been influencial again. Justin Gregory has also done well.

BEST MIDFIELDER: Having won our player of the year, Dannie Bulman would win this. But I also want to point out Jon Brady, as the Aussie had a superb season on the right.

BEST STRIKER: This would have to be Boro's top goalscorer, Anthony Elding. But he only just scrapes this award, as Dino Maamria also had a good season for Boro.

BEST HOME TEAM PERFORMANCE: We blew away our fellow play-off contenders Accrington Stanley, by winning 5-0 with a superb performance. Quailey, Hanlon, Goodliffe (2) and Flack scored the goals.

BEST AWAY TEAM PERFORMANCE: I think beating rivals Woking 2-1 at Kingfield was our best performance away. We had just lost at home to Hereford and we had to win to keep our play-off hopes alive.

WORST HOME TEAM PERFORMANCE: When we were hammered 4-1 at home to relegation-threatened Canvey Island. We sat 15th after 12 games following this match and our hopes seemed over and most people wanted Westley out.

WORST AWAY TEAM PERFORMANCE: Again, against Canvey Island when we lost 3-0 at Park Lane. George Boyd and Simon Weatherstone were sent off.

BEST GROUND VISITED: Not visited at time of writing, but of course, the Britannia Stadium of Stoke City.

WORST GROUND VISITED: Definetly Underhill in Barnet. How it gets into the Football League I don't know, but they'll be back down in three years!
