Stevenage boss Graham Westley looks set to be without midfielder Michael Bostwick, who has a virus.
Midfielder Darren Murphy is a definite absentee as he works his way back from an ongoing shoulder problem.
Port Vale boss Jim Gannon told BBC Radio Stoke: "I went to watch Stevenage play (against Crewe).
"I was surprised, to be honest, to see them play a 4-4-2 and stroke the ball around.
"They still work very hard and they've got very aggressive frontmen, so they're going to be a difficult team to compete with because they're so big and physical."
