Laird back to his best

Stevenage defender Scott Laird believes he is rediscovering the form that made him a star of Boro's title-winning side last season. The former Plymouth trainee was an important part of the Stevenage team that gained promotion to League Two, but he then found his place threatened by Darius Charles who was signed from Ebbsfleet United. Laird was in the side which drew at Morecambe last weekend and was named `Man of the Match' despite missing a penalty. He had converted from the spot in the previous game but failed to repeat the feat against The Shrimps. Laird told The Comet that he understands he needs to find the level of performance he maintained throughout the last campaign. He said: "I've just had a bit of bad form, everyone has it. I've been better every game. The last three or four games I've been near enough back to my best. I didn't get beat a lot and I also got forward a lot."
